Email and IM are dead thanks to Google Wave

This presentation is kind of long but there is so much to unpack. Google Wave not only going bin email and IM it is going to change the nature of online collaboration. Projects will never be the same again, submission/review systems need to be thrown away because this stuff is the future. Who needs Outlook anymore?

Doctor Who assistant is unveiled as Karen Gillan

Well the time has come, the waiting is over, and so on. The Moff has cast another relative unknown in the BBC’s flagship Saturday night show. I know absolutely nothingg about Karen Gillan except that she is fierce pretty and celtic looking. Two of my favorite things.

Looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Apparently she was in the show before in the Fires of Pompeii. I must have had my eyes shut that day I’m sure I would have noticed.

Only a few weeks before this new series starts filming and all sorts of horrible spoiler things come out and ruin everything. I’m going to cover my eyes and ears with sticking plasters until March 2010.

Little-known actress Karen Gillan has been unveiled as the next assistant in Doctor Who.

The 21-year-old will star alongside new Time Lord Matt Smith in the new series, to be broadcast next year.

###UPDATE: Nothing else to say apart from I think I’m going to enjoy Series 5

According to aintitcoolnews.com it will be an origins story rather than a remake. It also lists the proposed director (who has only previously done adverts but whose name escapes me) and says that Ridley and Tony Scott will be producing. Any excitement about Ridley’s involvement is tempered with the fact that 20th Century Fox is still involved, a company that is hell bent on turning every film into a product for magpie masses who still marvel at shiny objects that glisten in the sunlight.
      Machete out…

Origin/remake don’t care. I’m sick to the back teeth of reboots/remakes/remodels and so on.

    Children with guns

Since when was giving kids guns and training them how to use them such a bright idea? I mean if you Google “children with guns” then you come up with either images of 9 year olds who are enlisted in some African or Asian para-military organisation or articles on what a bad idea it is for kids to have guns.

However, it seems that the Boy Scouts of America are training young lads and lasses to combat “terrorism” and patrol American borders. This wins the newly instated “most fucked up thing I saw today award”.

The responding officers — eight teenage boys and girls, the youngest 14 — face tripwire, a thin cloud of poisonous gas and loud shots — BAM! BAM! — fired from behind a flimsy wall. They move quickly, pellet guns drawn and masks affixed.

“United States Border Patrol! Put your hands up!” screams one in a voice cracking with adolescent determination as the suspect is subdued.

Clmon man. Those guns only look real. Those kids are learning to fight terrists withpellet guns! Besides they’re boyscouts. They’ll probably grow up to be like the cop in the village people.
