It landed on my mat today. The twentieth Doctor Who Magazine Special Edition came wrapped in its slightly torn brown wrapper. I like to think that the wrapper was torn not because of the long trip from Leicestershire to the Netherlands but because its contents were bursting to get out. 148 pages of features on the whole of series four of Doctor Who.
If DWM is to be believed (and why not) the season started during Children in Need with “Time Crash” and stretched though Christmas and ending in July with the wonderful “Journey’s End”. Now what a series that would have been if there weren’t those pesky breaks in between the first three episodes. The magazine features in-depth articles on each superb episode (and the one with the Adipose) of arguably the the most successful series of Doctor Who it its 45 year history.
Tom Spilsbury, Editor of DWM is excited, he says:
DWM has been given exclusive access to all the scripts and shooting schedules, to tell you what was shot when and where, what was left on the cutting-room floor and why, and even the truth behind a few of those rumours that hit the tabloids!
Packed with anecdotes and comments from the men and women who make the programme, script extracts, deleted scenes, and a full list of cast, crew, transmission times and ratings, with hundreds of beautiful and previously unseen photographs, this is the ultimate guide to Doctor Who 2008.
The Series Four Companion is available from shops (in the UK natch) on Thursday 14th August. Hey! That’s tomorrow, have you ordered your copy? What else have you go to do until Christmas?

WARNING: No actual spoilers are contained in this post.
In today’s information rich society it is nigh impossible to get through the day without finding out new information. Quite often you learn things that you would rather have not found out in the first place or wish that you could un-learn. Obviously I am quite guilty of providing spoiler information as any one of the thousands that visited my site last week can testify. The very fact that my brand new blog was able to attract more visitors than ever before was purely down to the fact that some of us (me included) cannot help taking a peek when the word “spoiler” is mentioned.
I for one trawl various Internet forums hunting spoilers down and ingesting them as if they are my only source of sustenance. In the last week, though, I have been wondering how much more I would have enjoyed the new series of Doctor Who (for example) if I knew absolutely nothing about it. The upcoming return of an old enemy that I reported would have been a delicious surprise for me. The returning companions, the main villain in this year’s Christmas special and other stuff would be wonderful and shocking delights for me had I not already learned about them. So why do I do it? It is like I cannot stop myself, I’m not disciplined enough to prevent myself from logging on to the forums and searching for forthcoming goodies, no matter how much the members of those forums piss me off.
My only recourse would be to cancel my membership to that forum and not create a new one. I’m not sure what I would do on the Internet then. Perhaps I could read some real news or something? I wonder if anyone else has any spoiler avoidance devices that they would like to share. The comments are open if you want to contribute.

0The website formerly known as Outpost Gallifrey has announced that Russell T. Davies, creator of all that is holy and the writer of a couple of passable Doctor Who episodes has been awarded an OBE. Proof if ever proof were needed that the world has gone completely potty. Nothing against Mr Davies, I think he is great and it is well deserved, but the fact that the show runner of Doctor Who should get an OBE for his services to drama just sounds weird when you say it. Try saying John Nathan Turner OBE… see what I mean?
Russell T Davies , the lead writer and executive producer of Doctor Who and the man who has spearheaded the revival of the programme since 2003, has been created an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire – OBE – in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. One of the highest civilian honours available to a British subject, the OBE is awarded by the Queen, on the advice of the Government, and has been given to Davies for his services to drama.
The Times quotes Davies as saying: “I’m delighted to accept, and I hope it does the whole industry a bit of good, for the writing of television drama to be recognised.” Davies is the second Doctor Who producer to have been accorded the honour – the late Verity Lambert was given an OBE in 2002.
According to the Press Association , the BBC has released a statement saying: “We are delighted for Russell – he is one of this country’s greatest writers and it is fantastic that his talent has been recognised in this way.”
The story is covered in many other news sources, including: The Independent , The Guardian , The Scotsman and BBC News . BBC News have also published a profile of Davies.[From Doctor Who, Film/TV
2OK, so I was never so popular as when I posted the blurry spoilery picture of Davros with a watermark. It seems that the Internets have exploded with delight on the arrival of a seemingly official shot of the creator of the Daleks. I’ve posted a kind of small thumbnail below but be warned that should you decide to click on it the thumb will enlarge into something that will blow your mind. But don’t go there if you don’t want to be spoiled. Really…
OK here it is. Get it while it is hot, the BBC may hunt me down for this covert action ![]()

btw: there is also a picture of a redesigned dalek

3Along with the Davros picture there comes a picture of a Red Dalek which is equally spoilerific so absolutely do not click on the itty bitty image below if you don’t want to see a very redesigned dalek with a paint job.

IGN has posted the teaser trailer to the new Punisher movie, Punisher: War Zone. Yet again a actor has been cast. After Dolph Lundgren played the psychotic ex-marine in 1989 and Thomas Jane had a turn in 2004 it is time for Ray Stevenson to step up to the plate. The first Punisher movie was laughable and the last one was “meh”. In December 2008 Lionsgate bring forth a movie that seems to be (if the trailer is to be believed) in Hollywood speak “high octane”. Loosely translated this means that it will be a lot like a Steven Seagal film, very loud and brash with a 1 dimensional performance from the leading man.
If you had been following the production of this film (why?) you will have seen the key players drop away like flies. Thomas Jane pulled out last year saying that he didn’t want to
spend months of my life sweating over a movie that I just don’t believe in. I’ve always loved the Marvel guys, and wish them well. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to search for a film that one day might stand with all those films that the fans have asked me to watch. (source AICN)
The synopsis of the movie reads like this:
In the December 5 comic book adaptation, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle (Stevenson) wages his one-man war on the world of organized crime and sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the “Punisher Task Force” hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.
So I have to say that I am not terribly fired up about the film. However, if you are in the mood for plenty of guns and vengeance then the trailer shouts that this film will be for you. Anyway the trailer is below and if you want to see it in HD or any other formats there is a link after it.

5So it has taken quite some time for it to surface and I’m not even certain if this is the same picture that has been discussed on a certain Doctor Who forum for months now but Blogtor Who has had the balls to post something delightfully spoilerific for all the world to see. I’m not going to post directly to the picture for fear of being removed from the space/time continuum by the Powers That Be Shadow Proclamation. But if you go over to Cameron McEwan’s blog you will see that he is linking to a rather blurry but exciting piece of Doctor Who history. The return of Davros. Hopefully this will prompt the BBC and they will get off their collective arse and post a nice high quality version.
Breaking news in the world of DOCTOR WHO tonight concerns the unearthing of a supposed leaked pic that is incredibly spoilery in nature if true. And, to be honest, there’s no reason to doubt the picture’s validity. Here at BLOGTOR TOWERS we do not ‘print’ rumours/gossip/spoilers, just facts. But, if you really want to see the picture, then you can view it HERE. But BE WARNED, it is a SPOILER regarding the SERIES 4 finale. Source: Blogtor Who
