0Ironically today was a day when I woke up thinking that it would be really cool to live in America again. I was browsing through my news feeds and I discover in fact that no it would not be at all cool because the country has gone completely nuts. Everyone who has ever made an assumption about someone because of the way they look should read this and have a good hard think about consequences.
Silly me. I thought flying on 9/11 would be easy. I figured most people would choose not to fly that day so lines would be short, planes would be lightly filled and though security might be ratcheted up, we’d all feel safer knowing we had come a long way since that dreadful Tuesday morning 10 years ago.
But then armed officers stormed my plane, threw me in handcuffs and locked me up.
0Of all the stupid, irresponsible, messed up ideas for a reality show… I hope the makers are really proud.

0On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam, In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream: Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Across the US, more and more prosecutions are being brought against women who lose their babies.
Rennie Gibbs is accused of murder, but the crime she is alleged to have committed does not sound like an ordinary killing. Yet she faces life in prison in Mississippi over the death of her unborn child.
0Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight, O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Sometimes when I’m at work I think that I would really like one of these.

Sort of stupid: using WWII grenades as bookends. Really stupid: giving one of those grenades to a neighbor, no questions asked. Extremely stupid: accepting said grenade. Maximum stupid: immediately pulling the pin from that grenade. Bomb squad, come on down!
sigh. Danger unexploded bookend…

So it is all interesting that iTunes finally got The Beatles back catalogue along with the rest of us. But what I thought was more interesting was that iTunes seems to think that “Rubber” is an expletive that needs to be bleeped out.
Or maybe this is the way The Beatles originally intended?
A$$hats.

Sometimes the stuff that comes in on my RSS feed is just mental beyond belief. The writer and director of the new Fraggle Rock movie Cory Edwards is complaining that the studio is interfering with his vision for the movie. Wait, Fraggle Rock movie… who in the world greenlit that?
No matter for the story becomes weirder. Mr Edwards claims (I’m sure what he says is completely true) that the Weinstein Company has put his script out to tender to get a new “edgier” take on those loveable muppets.
I’m leaving that to float in the air for a beat or two.
Edgier Fraggles.
This is of course just what the world needs. Hollywood has gone completely mad. The desperation that is oozing from this is palpable. A frakking edgy muppet movie. Really? I’m all for realism in the movies but this will ostensibly be a movie about puppets for kids. Do we really need grit in that? Do we need another freaking remake of a old TV series? Can the studio system bring out even a slightly original film with new ideas?
I’m thinking not.
More details of this madness below
Fraggle fans, I am trying to keep the torch lit for all of you. But we are going to have to weather a few more storms. There are some dark days ahead, my friends. Not to be too alarmist, but I am struggling to stay in control of my own movie at this point. The Weinstein Company gives me no confidence these days. Why?
